Botero, Inspiring...

Yesterday I visited the New Orleans Museum of Art and saw an exhibit on Botero. It was beautiful. Not only that but as the title of this posts suggests, inspiring. I awoke in the middle of the night with an idea of something new I want to try in pottery. Keep your fingers crossed that I can bring the idea from my mind into reality.

Here's just a smidge of what I saw:

The sculptures are really my fave.

My favorite of all the sculptures... ^^

In this piece, notice that in the breasts, bellybutton and folds of flesh, there is a smiling face. My friend Virginia was kind enough to pose with her.

I didn't realize at the time that the picture was blurry. :(
The glare from the sun was so bright.

  1. So are you thinking about sculpture? I love those wake up in the middle of the night with great pottery idea moments. However, I seem to forget and get all caught up in the regular same-old production routine. I have got to change that! Good luck with your new vision.

  2. Thanks Cheryl. What I'm thinking of is a combination of hand building and throwing. I'm going into the studio this week to see if I can make it happen.

    More experimentation...

  4. I love Botero's work and weird thing is that I was just thinking that I should find some images of his the other day.
