Botero, Inspiring...

Yesterday I visited the New Orleans Museum of Art and saw an exhibit on Botero. It was beautiful. Not only that but as the title of this posts suggests, inspiring. I awoke in the middle of the night with an idea of something new I want to try in pottery. Keep your fingers crossed that I can bring the idea from my mind into reality.

Here's just a smidge of what I saw:

The sculptures are really my fave.

My favorite of all the sculptures... ^^

In this piece, notice that in the breasts, bellybutton and folds of flesh, there is a smiling face. My friend Virginia was kind enough to pose with her.

I didn't realize at the time that the picture was blurry. :(
The glare from the sun was so bright.

What does your bottom look like?

You heard me right.

This is my signature (and self portrait) in some nice red clay.

(I dont know why the picture rotated...)

OOPS...

One of the things I'm working on is color combinations and simple glaze designs. I don't mind how this brick glaze ran down over the seafoam glaze. In fact I like it.
However, I don't like the little bare spots that decided to peek out. Maybe this would have looked okay with red clay.

Here's my set of nesting bowls (sorta) all together like one big semi-happy family.

Same set with some sunshine added...

My apprenticeship...

My first (bad) attempt at making an address tile. It's supposed to be smoooooooth...

I'm loinin'. :/
